New Business Owner

Three years ago I met “Susan” at a Coin Laundry Association meeting. She wanted to retire from teaching and re-locate to sunny Southern California and get into the dirty laundry business. After visiting and evaluating dozens of sites, Susan purchased a dry cleaning business but soon discovered that the revenues were less than anticipated. I introduced her to Fluff and Fold, the Beverly Kay Way and have continued to mentor her since. Susan continues to expand her business by including additional services; however, her drop off laundry business with its delivery services have been responsible for doubling her revenues!

Learning to Create Continued Profits

In 2016, I befriended “Maxine” who was anxious to make a career change, preferably in the laundry business. We spent many hours exploring all the variables for this particular location. After very lengthy negotiations on a “tired” laundromat site, she made the purchase and sought my counsel regarding a revision and upgrade of the the existing fluff and fold services. Working together, we have expanded her staff, upgraded equipment and increased prices. Maxine continues to rely on my “expertise” as challenges are presented. Most importantly, she is very pleased and confident with her ownership; in addition, her ‘mat continues to be more profitable each and every month.

Strategic Development & Marketing

It took two years to complete a 7000 square foot laundromat at a site which the shopping center owner had allowed to be vacant for several years. I worked with the client for many months sharing my ideas and experiences prior to its opening. Many billable hours were spent helping to formulate the store’s layout, equipment selection, marketing ideas and creating a detailed staff training program. Five months after opening, they had surpassed their revenue goals…quite an accomplishment!

Increased Revenues

Business partners, Mike and Jim, purchased and remodeled a 4200 square foot store in Central Los Angeles and sought my help to generate more monthly revenue. Spacious, great layout, excellent equipment and a dedicated, involved staff were already in place when I came aboard. I introduced my fluff and fold techniques and detailed procedures so that the customers would always receive a consistent and professional product. We have also expanded the customer base through creative marketing and finding “power partners”.

Staff Training

I met Doug at our local affiliate meeting where I gave a presentation on the basics of Fluff and Fold…the Beverly Kay Way. He asked me to help train his staff at his two creatively remodeled stores in Los Angeles. Doug’s staff was very receptive and eagerly participated in the demonstrations. Doug has become a key player in the laundromat business and services providing all the “bells and whistles” for his customers, including delivery services. Needless to say, both of his locations do exceedingly well!

Cashing in on Fluff & Fold

Maria sat next to me at our SoCAL Coin Laundry Association meeting and explained she was closing escrow in the next month and wanted to incorporate drop off services when the remodeling was completed. I set up a training session at one of the participant’s laundromat, wherein each of the three owners followed the instructions by doing their own laundry. Later on, they could teach their own staffs how to process orders….the Beverly Kay Way. Maria confided in me that she continues to expand her drop off services (plus raising prices) using various marketing and social media formats.
